Rohit Bhonagiri, medical student

What major did you take in undergrad?
Microcellular biology
If you took biology did it help you in med school?
Yes but even if I got a different degree and had done the prerequisite classes needed for medical school, I would’ve been prepared
What major do you recommend taking to be the most prepared for becoming a physician? Why?
Anything that you’re interested in and can fit the pre-reqs in.
When taking the required premed classes in your undergraduate year, did you feel the work load to be overwhelming with your chosen major?
No
What was the hardest part of medical school and how did you overcome it?
Just a lot of studying to do on top of rotations - need to have good time management and stress management skills
Why do you believe most doctors take biology as their chosen major?
Self selection, people interested in going to medical school also tend to be interested in learning biology over other fields. Also it’s easier to get pre-requisites.
What are you interested in specializing in?
Internal medicine, undecided fellowship
