What is your background?
Undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan
Major in athletic training/kinesiology
Learned about exercise physiology and hands-on rehabilitation
Originally wanted to do orthopedic surgery, then switched to Obstetrics and Gynecology
Medical degree from the University of Illinois-Chicago
Students should pursue what they’re interested in before medical school (ex. majoring in history or English)
What are your day-to-day responsibilities and typical caseload?
Not currently clinically active
Left job in Dec 2019 (before the pandemic)
Currently working with brands (ex. medical expert at tampex)
Non-traditional way of using a medical degree
What is most exciting about your job?
Being able to have control of lifestyle
Flexible hours
Why did you decide to pursue medicine?
Knew since 2nd or 3rd grade
Was always interested in the human body

Be open to change
Be prepared to pivot when needed- path does not have to be fixed
What was the most difficult aspect of your journey to medicine?
No defining moment
Medical school is difficult, but if you are passionate, you can pursue it!
What is your advice to students interested in pursuing medicine?
Don’t isolate yourself
Reach out for help when needed
Have people outside of medicine to help you
Take time for breaks/rest
Medicine is a long and intense road- have a support system to keep you grounded!
